TREACLE TOFFEE

(1 customer review)
£1.75

“HELLO TREACLE!”

Treacle toffee has a big, sumptuous flavour.  Richer, deeper, more intense than our ‘Original’ toffee (and SO much more addictive!). Made with black treacle, this is toffee turned up to eleven!

Pan cooked to create the perfect traditional toffee taste and long lasting chew (just a little softer to be kinder to your teeth!).

Give it a WHACK TO SMASH IT UP!

What is ‘Caramel Toffee‘?

Well, it’s: Not too hard, and not too soft

We’ve found that some people assume that ‘toffee’ is rock hard, like a ‘Butterscotch’, but that’s not the kind of toffee we make! Our toffee is firm, but quickly softens for a mouthwatering chew, like the chewy toffees Mackintosh (Rowntree’s) created a hundred odd years ago, combining recipes for caramels and toffees, and creating a toffee that was ‘Not too hard, and not too soft‘.

Sold as a traditional slab (BAR), JUST REMEMBER TO give it a whack before you open it!

Doesn’t *quite* hit the nail on the head in terms of being a replacement for treacle toffee for me. It’s hard and chewy which I 100% was after, I used to love proper toffee you’d smash with a hammer before going vegan and this is very close but you can tell purely from the colour that it isn’t as dark as regular treacle toffee and for me it’s missing some of that depth of flavour. The recipe needs quite a bit more treacle in order to be like real bonfire toffee. Still nice for what it is though!

Hi Amy! Following your review, I’ve started to add more of the black stuff! I’ve always been a little ‘conservative’ with it, not wanting the flavour to be too heavy as some folk like it a bit ‘lighter’, but I’m with you – more is definitely more!
